After thumbing through this week’s Final Call newspaper, I could not help but notice an article entitled: “The Black Church 2003: The Same Ole Song.” This article was authored by Minister Paul Scott. After entering a simple search using only his name, he shows up as a frequent guest columnist for this publication as well as others. He obviously embraces Black Liberationist theology/thought and this article is advances this position. His byline mentions that he is founder of the Durham, NC based “New Righteous Movement”. B.A.M. Acknowledges Local Tragedy

Greetings everybody. Being that we are all Chicago natives, we just want to take the time to acknowledge the horrible, senseless tragedy that claimed over 20 lives early Monday morning at a nightclub downtown. We feel badly for the families who lost such young people. These deaths have rocked the entire city here, not just the black community. Very sad. They are in our thoughts and our prayers today. Tavis Has Another Panel Discussion

Yesterday, there was a special that aired (live in Detroit) by Tom Joyner and Tavis Smiley (both influential black activists) called The State of the Black Union - The Black Church: Relevant, Repressive, or Reborn? I taped it and I am sure that it will be re-broadcast several times since that is frequently how the programming is dealt with on C-Span.
