Update 12/21/02
Great News! I just found out that this site got tons of traffic recently with all of the talk of the sniper shootings that happened this past Fall. Based on some internet reaction that I have read, members of the Nation of Gods and Earths are of course claiming conspiracy, propoganda, etc. in terms of the media reporting, claiming that the alleged killings occured in spite of and not because of adherence to the teachings of the Nation. There has also been an attempt to distance themselves from the alleged snipers altogether. Some of this is legitimate, after all, an individual has to be responsible for their own actions. However, based upon the Five Percent's violent record behind bars, this incident does fall in line with the obvious connection of the Five Percent teachings (particularly the ones that elevate the black man as "god" and superior to all other races) to violent/criminal behavior.

I know that the term "gang" is flatly rejected by this movement, (we certainly recognize the fact that all subscribers to this ideology are NOT recognized as gang members) however, based on their sheer numbers in prison (especially the East Coast) coupled with the activities they engage in while inside, they can and should be classified as such, based on the definition of the word gang.
