Question: "Wasn't the Nicene Council framed in order to "quilt together" the so-called Christian religion?"

Answer: No. The Nicene Council did not come together to quilt together Christianity. In 325, Emperor Constantine summoned Christian bishops, theologians, and imperial advisors to a council in the city of Nicea (now Turkey) to settle controversies over the deity of Christ, the precise definition of the Trinity and other matters.

Specific heretical teachings that this creed was written to refute were the Arian heresy and the Macedonian heresy that followed. Accusations that the doctrine of the Trinity and the Deity of Christ were mere fabrications of this council are way off base. There are a significant number of existing quotes by early Christians and Church Fathers to show that the content of the Nicene Creed clearly reflected: 1.) how Christians of the day understood the Christian faith and 2.) more importantly what the scriptures have revealed.
