Additionally, this opinion is considered to be minority, no matter how widely used it is within this circle. Very few scholars (non-Christian included) deny the existence of a historical figure named Jesus Christ. I wonder how many are really acquainted with the issues concerning the origin of pagan myth and how many simply repeat what they have been told or what they have seen on the net? I would encourage everyone reading these words to familiarize yourself with the issues so that you can:
make an informed decision based on the evidence available
be able to refute this claim when presented
Many of the works that have been put together on this subject are lengthy, so be prepared to print them out and chew on them for awhile... I was working on a brief and less scholarly article that deals with this concern, and was forced to finish it somewhat when asked a direct question about it. It is currently on the front page under the 05/21/03 entry. You can take a look at the article by clicking here. I will definitely delve into this again in the future to deal with both the Greek myths as well as the Egyptian ones (the skeptics love Egypt/Kemet).
